Dry, Then Approaching Storm: Yorktown's Work Week Weather

YORKTOWN, NY — Enjoy the dry and relatively mild temperatures for the first half of the work week, because wet weather will return beginning Thursday. For most of the region, the nor’easter will be a rain event. However, in the mid-Hudson Valley there could be some snow, which will turn to rain and then back into snow.

Flooding might also be a problem, since we are coming off of a particularly wet February.

And let’s throw a full moon on March 1 into the mix, shall we?

“The combination of the proximity of the full moon and strong onshore flow will lead to coastal flooding at times of high tide,” said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski.

Here the forecast from the National Weather Service for the work week in northern Westchester.

• Tonight: Clear, with a low around 28. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.
• Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 52. Wind chill values between 30 and 40 early. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 9 mph in the morning.
• Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 32. Calm wind.
• Wednesday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 55. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 7 mph in the morning.
• Wednesday Night: A 20 percent chance of rain before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. Light and variable wind.
• Thursday: A 40 percent chance of rain after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 51.
• Thursday Night: Rain. Low around 38. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
• Friday: Rain. High near 43. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
• Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34.
