Dutchess Man Arrested For Not Showing Up In Yorktown Court

The underlying charge was driving without a license from an arrest in May.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Dutchess County man was arrested in Yorktown for failing to appear in court. Yorktown police said Dashawn J. Giddings, 26, of Charles Street in Poughkeepsie, was arrested on a bench warrant for failure to appear in connection with the charge of third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, from March.

Police said Giddings missed a scheduled court appearance at 6 p.m. July 10 in Yorktown Justice Court and a bench warrant was issued.

On July 25, he was in the custody of the New York State Park Department on unrelated charges when it was found he had the open bench warrant.

Giddings was taken into custody and brought to Yorktown Justice Court to appear before a judge.

He was processed and arraigned but was unable to post $500 bail, so he was sent to the Westchester County Department of Corrections.

Giddings is next scheduled to appear in court Aug. 7.
