Firefighter Exams Offered In Hudson Valley
The exams are available for Westchester residents only, but here are other jobs where you can serve your community.
YORKTOWN, NY — If you've ever aspired to be a firefighter, and you live in Westchester County, now is your chance to apply. Westchester County Civil Service has posted information about its next firefighter exam, which will take place April 27.
If you don't live in, or aren't planning to move to, Westchester and still want to serve your community, there are other emergency responder opportunities across the Hudson Valley (see below).
The application for the exam — which must be filed by 11:59 p.m. Feb. 22 — will cover firefighter positions for towns, villages, special districts in Westchester County and the cities of Peekskill and Rye.

Only applications submitted online will be accepted for county civil service examinations. Candidates may use computers at the Westchester County One-Stop Employment Center, 120 Bloomingdale Road in White Plains, or at local libraries in the county to complete the application.

There is a non-refundable $100 application fee. A wavier of the fee is possible under certain circumstances.
To be considered, one must be a legal resident of Westchester County at the time of the examination for at least one month prior (March 27) and at the time of the appointment. Proof of residency is required. Minimum qualifications include being at least 18 years old and having a high school education (or equivalency diploma) and a driver's license.
