Flood Warning Issued Friday For Parts Of Hudson Valley

Two inches of rain has already fallen, the National Weather Service said, and more is expected.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for urban areas and small streams in northern Westchester, southeastern Orange and Rockland counties. The warning is in effect until 1:15 p.m. Friday.

Doppler radar indicated heavy rain at 10:15 a.m. that will cause flooding.

Up to 2 inches of rain have already fallen and another and another 1 to 1-1/2 inches of rain is expected by early Friday afternoon.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low-lying spots.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
