Fred Could Bring Thunderstorms, Tornado To HV
Meteorologists say the remains of the tropical storm could produce severe thunderstorms, heavy winds and even an isolated tornado.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The Hudson Valley region will see the remains of Tropical Storm Fred pass through Wednesday into Thursday and, along with it, the possibility of an isolated tornado.
The National Weather Service issued hazardous weather outlooks for the mid- and lower Hudson Valley for Wednesday.
The outlooks call for a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms with damaging winds for Columbia, Dutchess and Ulster counties. For points south in the lower Hudson Valley, there could be heavy rainfall along with localized flash flooding.

An isolated tornado is possible throughout the entire region, the weather service said.
Hudson Valley Weather said that what's left of Fred will track to the north and west of the Hudson Valley. That is where the heaviest rainfall amounts — 1 to 2 inches — could fall.

"We will need to closely monitor the eastern side of the circulation of Fred's remnants, a squall line may develop and this line may contain severe weather and even the threat of isolated tornadoes," Hudson Valley Weather said on Facebook.
All that said, thunderstorms and showers are in the forecast through the remainder of the workweek.
