Goodbye Warmth: Weekend Weather for Yorktown

The northwest winds are chilly and cold around Somers.

SOMERS, NY — The cold front this weekend will be a mixed blessing for runners in the New York City Marathon. It is also an early warning of early winter, meteorologists warn.

"The sun returns on Friday but the warmth will be gone, highs in the 50’s and lows in the 30’s will be the theme," said Alex Marra of Hudson Valley Weather. "...the signals continue to point towards a major change in our pattern; one that may send us into the early grips of winter weather."

The 46th annual marathon has more than 50,000 runners signed up. They'll get a chilly, dry day but there will be a breeze from the northwest that could affect many, according to AccuWeather.
