Grange Fair Recap: Great Music, part 2

Sunday's Opening Act Sets Tone for Great Day

Yorktown residents Lori and Mike Barr were the first musicians on the mainstage Sunday, and it was also their first time performing at the Grange Fair. They paused to reminisce about some of the musicians they had seen there over the years.

“Leslie West and Mountain, Peter Tork of The Monkees, and Marshall Crenshaw have performed on this stage,” Mike said with a touch of awe. “And now here we are. Pretty cool.”

Sharing vocals, with Mike on acoustic guitar and Lori on percussion, they played wonderful cover versions of songs by Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, The Monkees, The Band, and even a Nancy and Frank Sinatra duet.

It was a fun set that was well received by an appreciative audience. And a great lead in for the next group to take the stage - the 2014 All Star Band from the Yorktown Teen Center’s First Friday Performers. More on them in my next post.
