Heat Wave Away: Weekend Weather for Yorktown
Here's what you can expect through Sunday night around Somers and Yorktown.

Rain in the forecast is accompanied by cooler temperatures through the weekend. If you're going to the Putnam County 4-H Fair, Saturday may be your best bet.
"It’s been a long… hot, road… but we’ve finally come to the end of the ride," said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather, marking the end of the eight-day heat wave.
If we’re going to see sun over the next few days, it’s likely to appear briefly on Saturday. The rest of the weekend will be mostly cloudy skies with a decent chance of rain and thunderstorms. There will be a brief break after Friday's morning rain. Then the chance of precipitation rises again Saturday night through Sunday night.

"A stalled front will focus an increase in shower and storm coverage from the mid-Atlantic to southern New England throughout the weekend," AccuWeather Meteorologist Kevin Gilmore said. Areas most likely to experience one or more rounds of soaking rain and storms this weekend include portions of New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.

Not great "weekend weather." But between the rain from last night, some rain this morning, and more rain chances Saturday night, Sunday, and Monday, well hopefully it's making a strong dent in the drought conditions in the Hudson Valley.
