HV Weather: Nor'easter Could Hit By Weekend
Forecasters say there's potential that a nor'easter could develop.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY – A weekend nor'easter will soak the East Coast with rain, strong winds, coastal flooding and even some interior Northeast snow, The Weather Channel said Tuesday. The channel, while stressing the uncertainty of a storm that's still several days out, said there are some certainties, including rain and wind spreading up the East Coast Friday and into the weekend — unless a low-pressure system tracks too far offshore — and because it's late October and not January most of the precipitation should be rain.
During the week, a cold front will cause the continuation of chilly temperatures. Temperatures could be as much as 15 degrees below average through the end of this week in the East, the Weather Channel predicted.
The National Weather Service said impacts from this storm are potentially advisory-criteria winds and a chance of at least minor coastal flooding. The degree of both is uncertain as it depends on the eventual track and strength of the storm. Rain amounts will also be affected by the storm track, but as of right now it does not appear to be one of the greater impacts.

For the more northern parts of the Hudson Valley, especially the higher terrains, the "S" word is already in the forecast.
The NWS said that any rain/snow mix should change to plain rain during the daylight hours Saturday, as the boundary layer warms. Precipitation is expected to linger through much of Saturday night, with again southern areas seeing the best likelihood. As temps cool at night (depending on the eventual storm track), a change back to rain/snow mix may occur across higher terrain areas.

"At this time, it looks like this storm will bring a general 1-2 inches of rain and a period of 40- to 50-mph wind gusts to the coast, and there will be some sort of wet snow over the interior," according to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dave Dombek.
Forecasters say there is still a chance that the storm will stay offshore, minimizing its impact on New York.
