The NWS says a light mixture of snow and sleet is expected to begin after midnight across Orange and Rockland. There could be light accumulations by morning rush hour. Then on Thursday morning, we get treated to the classic wintry mix before the precipitation changes to all rain. Accumulations: a trace to maybe an inch or more in western Orange County.
"Aside from the front end snow threat, a beneficial rainfall is likely, up to an inch of rain will fall across the areas that do not remain snow, even some thunder in the heavier downpours is possible," said Alex Marra of Hudson Valley Weather.

Since the Hudson Valley is still classified in severe drought, the rain will be welcome. But it will feel raw out there, so dress appropriately. Plus, even without snow, the combination of rain and fallen leaves can make roads extra slick.
