Latest Details on Stormy and Rainy Weather Due Friday in Yorktown
Some much-needed rain is on the way and flash flooding is possible in and around Somers and Yorktown.

You can look at today as the very warm calm before the storm — and much needed rain that is likely on the way. Today is the last of this 90-degree-plus heat wave and all eyes turn to Friday’s forecast for unsettled weather.
The National Weather Service provided new information on the possible storms in its update Thursday morning.
A “Hazardous Weather Outlook” has been issued for all Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties on Friday and the region could see between 1-2 inches of rain on Friday alone.

In the lower Hudson Valley, the National Weather Service said a low pressure system will approach the area overnight Thursday.
There is a “threat for flash flooding” that exists from thunderstorms late tonight into Friday afternoon with a limited threat for severe weather. The weather service does say that the forecast concerning the unsettled weather on Friday is still very much subject to change and they will continue to pinpoint it.

And then on Friday afternoon and into the early evening there is a chance for heavy rain and potential flooding as thunderstorms move through the area.

Partly sunny. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the lower 90s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent. Heat index values in the mid 90s.

Mostly cloudy. A chance of rain in the evening...then rain likely with a slight chance of thunderstorms after midnight. Patchy fog after midnight. Rain may be heavy at times after midnight. Humid with lows around 70. South winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60 percent.
Friday
Rain with isolated thunderstorms. Patchy fog in the morning. Rain may be heavy at times. Humid with highs around 80. East winds 5 to 10 mph...becoming north 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Chance of rain 80 percent.
