LI Woman Accused Of Identity Theft
Police said she used someone else's debit card last year to buy things.
YORKTOWN, NY — A Long Island woman was accused of stealing someone else's identity in Yorktown. Police said Stephanie Fletcher, 35, of West Hempstead, Nassau County, was charged with second-degree identity theft, a felony.
According to the Yorktown police, a town resident appeared at police headquarters around 8:30 a.m. Nov. 15 to report multiple fraudulent charges on her Wells Fargo debit card.
Officers assigned to the case said Fletcher used the woman's debit card on two days — July 9, 2018, and Nov. 9 — to purchase goods and services amounting to $1,459.23.

On the afternoon of Sept. 10, Fletcher voluntarily appeared at police headquarters where she was arrested.
Following processing, Fletcher was arraigned and released on her own recognizance.

She has a return court date scheduled for Oct. 1.
