MA Man Arrested On Drug, Assault Charges In Yorktown

The man was initially arrested for domestic assault, police said.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Massachusetts man was arrested in Yorktown on drug and assault charges Tuesday. Yorktown police said Ariel J. Arias, 26, of Mattapan, MA, was charged with first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and third-degree assault, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of marijuana, misdemeanors.

Police said they received a call around 4:23 p.m. Tuesday saying that a person was in the roadway of Route 132 asking passing motorists to call 911.

On arrival to the scene, officers met with Arias and a resident of Old Yorktown Road.

An investigation led to the arrest of Arias for domestic assault.

Additionally, a K9 search of his car found cocaine, oxycodone and marijuana.

Following processing at police headquarters, Arias was arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court. A temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.

Arias was sent to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $7,500 bail.
