MHA Westchester Awarded New Grant

The Mental Health Association of Westchester Awarded $6000 by the Gannett Foundation

The Mental Health Association of Westchester (MHA) was awarded a grant in the amount of $6,000 from the Gannett Foundation at an event held at The Journal News Media Group in Harrison, NY, a Gannett subsidiary. The grant will support MHA’s food service training program. Developed for people with mental health conditions who want to reenter the workforce, the 10-week training teaches essential culinary skills, cooking skill, menu planning, nutrition, safe food handling, and soft skills required for successful employment.

“A grant like this one from the Gannett Foundation,” says Dr. Amy Kohn, MHA CEO, “will allow us to purchase equipment targeted to the very specific needs of food service training, items we would not otherwise be able to provide. MHA is enormously grateful for Gannett’s generosity and commitment to the communities it serves.

The Mental Health Association of Westchester, a premier mental health agency in the county, delivers high-quality, cost-effective services for individuals with behavioral health concerns.
