Mohegan Lake Man Accused Of Assault

The man voluntarily turned himself in.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Westchester man was arrested after allegedly assault another person. Yorktown Police said Lawrence T. Welch, 26, of Mohawk Road in Mohegan Lake, was charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor.

Police said they responded to Phelps Memorial Hospital around 8:41 p.m. May 10 to investigate a report of a past assault that occurred on Crompond Road in Yorktown around 1 a.m. May 10.

Police found that Welch struck and injured the victim.

He voluntarily turned himself in the following day at the Yorktown Police Department.

Welch was arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court. The judge issued a temporary order of protection on the victim’s behalf.

Welch was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to reappear in court May 22.
