Mohegan Woman Faces 2 DWI Charges

Maria Varone, 51, of Mohegan Lake, faces a charge of driving while intoxicated and a charge of aggravated driving while intoxicated.

Both are misdemeanors.

Yorktown police said a call came in around 1:22 p.m. April 21 about a possibly intoxicated woman driving a gray Volkswagen on Route 6.

A car matching that description was stopped on Route 6 near East Main Street.

After investigation, the driver, identified as Varone, was charged with DWI and taken to police headquarters, where she submitted to a breath test and then was hit with the additional charge.

Police did not reveal her blood alcohol level.

She was released to a family member and is due back in Yorktown town court May 26.
