More Thunderstorms: Yorktown's Weekend Weather

SOMERS, NY — The mini-heat wave continues on Friday and once again there is a chance for thunderstorms late this afternoon and evening across the Hudson Valley. And if you have outdoor plans this weekend, and we know you want to get outside, Saturday is by far the better day as we could see rain and cloudy skies on Sunday.

"In the wake of Friday’s gusty storms, showers are expected to spread across the northeastern United States this weekend," said AccuWeather senior meteorologist Kristina Pydynowski. "Outdoor plans will once again be in jeopardy, especially on Sunday."

Temperatures will still be above normal Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. Then they will drop more on Sunday, to "seasonable levels."

Here's what the National Weather Service forecasts for northern Westchester:

• This Afternoon-Showers. A slight chance of thunderstorms. Highs in the mid 80s. Southwest winds around 5 mph, increasing to 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Chance of rain 80 percent.
• Tonight-Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening, then a slight chance of showers after midnight. Some thunderstorms may produce gusty winds, and heavy rainfall in the evening. Lows in the mid 50s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph, becoming west after midnight. Gusts up to 30 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.
• Saturday-Partly sunny. Cooler with highs in the lower 70s. West winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph in the morning.
• Saturday Night-Mostly cloudy. A slight chance of showers in the evening, then a chance of showers after midnight. Lows in the mid 50s. South winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent.
• Sunday-Cloudy with a 50 percent chance of showers. Highs in the mid 60s. East winds around 5 mph.
• Sunday Night-Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers in the evening. Lows in the upper 40s. Chance of rain 30 percent.
