Mount Vernon Man Killed In 1-Car Crash In Somers
The vehicle the man was driving left the roadway and struck a concrete wall.

SOMERS, NY — State police are investigating a fatal one-car motor vehicle crash early Tuesday morning in the Town of Somers on State Route 116. The initial investigation found that, around 5:25 a.m., a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by William S. Jackson, 63, of Mount Vernon, was traveling west on Route 116 when he lost control of his vehicle.
The Grand Cherokee left the roadway via the north shoulder, struck a concrete wall and then turned over.
Jackson was extricated from the vehicle by the Somers Fire Department and was pronounced dead at the scene by Westchester Paramedics.

The road was reopened a little after 8 a.m., state police said.
The investigation is on-going.

Along with the state police, the Somers Fire Department, Westchester EMS, Westchester Medical Examiner's Office and the Troop K Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the crash scene.
