YORKTOWN, NY — Out with Turco's; in with Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace. The Long Island-based Uncle Giuseppe's announced Tuesday that it acquired Turco's, a specialty market in Yorktown Heights.

The latest Uncle Giuseppe's will be open Oct. 21 with normal hours, according to a store spokeswoman.

"We look forward to being welcomed into the community of Yorktown Heights and expanding our family with the current Turco’s employees," said Jillian Gundy, marketing manager.

"Uncle Giuseppe’s is not just a supermarket, we are an experience," she said. "We are sure you’ll love our music on the weekends, various in-store events, specials and more."

Customers will be able to sign up for the Uncle Giuseppe's Loyalty Card in order to receive offers and coupons and can expect all of Turco's food offerings — including the famous chicken burgers — to still be sold in the new store.

Over the coming months, Uncle Giuseppe's will be adding its favorite recipes, including fresh pasta, sauces, cannoli dip and more, according to a spokeswoman.

The new owners are not planning on any large-scale renovations until after the first of the year.

The Yorktown location is the second time Uncle Giuseppe's has opened a store in Westchester.

In March 2012, Uncle Giuseppe's took over the former A&P in New Rochelle on Pelham Road. The store opened as Key Food, but within a couple of months it was renamed Torino Marketplace. Shortly thereafter it was closed for renovations but never reopened.

Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace has six locations on Long Island and one in New Jersey. The first store opened in East Meadow in 1998.
