New Rochelle Man Accused Of Breaking Cell Phone, Slapping Victim

YORKTOWN, NY — A New Rochelle man is facing a felony charge after breaking a cell phone and striking someone in the face.

The Yorktown Police Department said Pavel J. Lopez, 43, of New Rochelle, was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, and second-degree harassment, a violation.

Police said an officer investigated a domestic incident around 3:30 p.m. Thursday at a Yorktown home.

It was found that Lopez broke the victim's cell phone by throwing it to the ground and damaging it to the tune of $250, police said.

He also slapped the victim in the face, according to authorities.

Lopez appeared at Yorktown Police Headquarters voluntarily Tuesday and was arrested.

He was arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court and a judge issued an order of protection on behalf of the victim.

Lopez was released on his own recognizance to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court Feb. 22.
