Orange County Man Accused Of Extortion: Police

He faces a misdemeanor grand larceny charge.

YORKTOWN, NY — An Orange County man is accused of trying to extort money from a Yorktown resident. Yorktown police said Shea Kirschbaum, 30, of Abbey Avenue in Maybrook, was charged with fourth-degree attempted grand larceny, a misdemeanor.

On Jan 8, a police detective was assigned to investigate a report of possible extortion. Police said they found that Kirschbaum attempted to extort money from the resident of Yorktown.

He voluntarily surrendered at Yorktown Police Department Jan. 11.

Kirschbaum was arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court, and the judge issued a temporary order of protection in favor of the victim.

Kirschbaum was released on $500 bail and is scheduled to reappear in court Feb. 8.
