Photo Gallery: Annual Yorktown Easter Egg Hunt

Approximately 2,000 people came out Saturday morning for the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Downing Park in Yorktown.

Ready, set, egg hunt! Hundreds of children, their friends and parents packed Downing Park for the annual Yorktown Easter Egg Hunt held Saturday morning. An air horn started off the kids and adults who ran toward the hundreds of colorful eggs. Baskets in hand they were bending down to grab as many as they could.

There were various prizes for everyone and a stand where one could guess how many jellybeans were in the jar. Children could take pictures with the Easter Bunny, the Yorktown Leos mascot and various other characters.

The Yorktown Recreation Department and the Yorktown Lion’s Club co-sponsored the Easter Egg Hunt. Members of the Yorkotwn Leos club gave out prizes and dressed up in costumes.

Pat Daddino, Yorktown Lions Club member, said this is the 40th annual Egg Hunt which attracted approximately 2,000 people this year. Up until the last minute people were still walking with their kids toward the field. Braving the chilly weather, many children were dressed in warm jackets while their parents were taking dozens of pictures of their little ones.

"You see the different generations," he said. "It's a great experience for the Lions, the town and the kids."
