Police activity for the week including pedestrians struck by vehicle, employee steals money, beauty products taken from Bath and Body Works, flooding, collapsed dam, teens having a camp fire and more.

Woman Steals $2,035 in Cash While Working at Macy's
Police arrested Jennifer A. Scheedel, 38, from Mahopac and charged her with grant larceny, a felony; and two counts of petit larceny, a misdemeanor. Investigation by officer Stephen Bobker revealed the woman had allegedly stolen $2,035 in cash from Macy's, located at the Jefferson Valley Mall, while she was employed there. The theft had occurred between Dec. 27, 2010 and Feb. 24, 2011. The defendant was transported to police headquarters and released on $250 cash bail. She is due in court on April 7.

Police arrested Frank P. Sassano, 48, a homeless man, who failed to appear in court for arraignment on a charge of criminal mischief, a felony. On Feb. 24 a bench warrant was issued after he failed to appear in court. The defendant voluntarily appeared at police headquarters on March 3 after learning of the warrant. He was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail. He is due in court on March 17.
Suspended Registration

Police arrested Anna S. Eichenholtz, 64, from Yorktown Heights and charged her with operating with a suspended registration, a misdemeanor and an expired registration, a traffic infraction. On March 3, officer Paniccia was operating an ELSAG mobile plate reader on Crompond Road when he detected the vehicle had a suspended registration. The defendant was stopped and subsequently processed at police headquarters. She was released without bail and is due in court on April 7.
Dog Bitten by Skunk
On March 3 at 2:27 p.m. a Granite Springs Road resident reported to police that her dog was bitten was a skunk. There were no injuries to the dog and it had its rabies shots, police said.
Loud Party Playing Music
On March 3 at 10:45 p.m. police received a report that a band was playing loud at a Nutley Circle residence and was keeping the neighboring family awake. Police said they explained the town code to the offenders and an warning was issued.
Two Teens Arrested for Remaining in Park After Dark
Two Yorktown Heights teens were arrested for remaining in a town park after dark, a town code violation. On March 4 at 9:43 p.m. officer Scatola was on routine patrol at Downing Park when he observed a 17-year-old female and a 16-year-old male in the park. Both subjects were arrested and released on their own recognizance. They are due in court on March 24.
Credit Card Stolen From Purse Used at K-Mart
On March 4 at 12:13 p.m. police received a report that a woman's purse was taken from her shopping cart while at the A&P grocery store in Yorktown Heights. There was no description of the subject available. Minutes later a stolen credit card was used to buy something from K-Mart. Police are investigating the matter and are urging people not to leave their pocketbooks unattended.
Missing Person
On March 4 at 1:56 p.m. an Illington Road resident reported her 21-year-old son was missing. She had dropped him off at the Mount Kisco train station so he could go to White Plains and missed his therapist appointment. The man instead wound up in the New York City, police said.
Gotta Go
On March 4 at 2:43 p.m. police received a report that a while male was urinating on the sidewalk, and was walking west on Route 6. The description given to police was that he was heavy set and was wearing a black leather jacket. The area was checked by police, but the man was GOA, gone upon arrival.
Teens Have a Camp Fire
Police arrested two teenagers, ages 17 and 18 from the Bronx, and charged them with violation of open burning. On March 4 at 10:34 p.m. officer Paniccia was on routine patrol at French Hill School when he saw a group of teens having a camp fire, which was in violation of the Westchester County open burning law. The two Bronx teens were arrested and three other teens under the age of 16 were released to parents and not charged because of their age, police said. The two arrested teens are due in court on March 24.
Man Hits Child While Driving
On March 5 at 4:17 p.m. police received a report that a male subject was strking a young child in the car while driving. The incident was reported in the area of Circuit City. New York State and Westchester County police officers were on the scene, and no further actions were taken by Yorktown police.
Stolen Beauty Products, Worth $800
On March 5 at 7:01 p.m. the Jefferson Valley mall security reported to police a theft at Bath and Body Works. $800 worth of merchandise were taken including: 24 body lotions, 3 shimmer lotions, 11 shower gels and 25 body sprays. Two black females, who looked suspicious, were seen standing by the entrance but there was no further suspect information, witnesses or evidence, police said.
Failure to Yield Right of Way Leads to Arrest
Police arrested Corey J. Tronchin, 32, from Yorktown and charged him with aggravated unlicensed operation and a failure to yield right of way. On March 5 at 1:02 p.m. officer Sgroi was on patrol when he allegedly saw a 1996 Nissan failing to yield right of way while traveling north bound on Gomer Street, at the intersection of London Road. The vehicle was stopped and a computer check revealed Tronchin's license was suspended. He was arrested and released on $100 bail. He is due in court on April 5.
Suspended Registration
Police arrested Kevin C. Morrison, 50, from Peekskill and arrested him for having a suspended registration, a misdemeanor. On March 5 at 8:23 p.m. officer Rapisarda was on patrol on Lexington Avenue when an ESAG plate reader "hit" on the license plates that were allegedly suspended. A DMV check revealed they were suspended for failure to pay a judgement. Morrison is due in court on April 7.
Rainy Weather and Flooding
The rainy weather on Sunday, March 6, caused headaches for many residents. Police received numerous reports of flooding in basements. At 8:20 p.m. homeowners at a Hallocks Mill Road residence reported water in the basement and would attempt to pump out the basement themselves. Other reports came from residents at Longvue Street, Somerston Road, York Hill Road, Farm Walk Road, Toni Court residence, Elizabeth Road, Chesterfield Drive, Old Crompon Road, Dunning Drive, Granite Springs Road, Waverly Road and Mountain Road.
Dam Collapses Due to Rains
On Monday, March 7 around 1:30 a.m. a huge portion of a dam on White Hill Road in Yorktown due to the pressure of Sunday's rain. The water also took out part of the White Hill Road Bridge, causing the town to close off the road temporarily. It reopened Tuesday morning.
Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck, Another Severely Injured
A 23-year-old woman died and a man was critically injured early Monday, March 7 after they were in Yorktown. Police said the man and the woman were walking along the flooded Route 202 near Garden Lane at approximately 5 a.m. when they were hit. The woman was pronounced dead on the scene and the man was taken to the Westchester Medical Center.
Sexual Assault
State Police, Yorktown and White Plains police departments and the Child Protective Services were involved in the investigation that led to the arrest of . On Jan. 3 police were notified the man had allegedly sexually abused a child under the age of 11, at two different locations in Yorktown sometime in 2010, police said. He is charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual act, a felony, police said. Crupi was arrested and processed at the Yorktown Police Department on March 8. He was brought before town justice Sal Lagonia for arraignment, who remanded him to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $100,000. He is due in court on March 15.
Suspended Registration, Unlicensed Operation, Uninsured Motor Vehicle
Police arrested Lisa Pignatelli, 39, from Cortlandt Manor. On March 8 at 12:40 p.m. officer Pavletich was on patrol on Rt. 202 when a license plate reader "hit" on the woman's license plates, which were allegedly suspended. In addition, it was revealed her drivers license had been suspended numerous times and she did not have an insured motor vehicle. Pignatelli was released on $250 cash bail and is due in court on April 12.
Quarrel with Repairman
On March 8 at 6:58 p.m. an Edcris Road resident reported that a Sears repairman threatened to shoot them. Police said the dispute happened over the telephone after the resident reported flooded basement. There is no evidence what occurred and what was said and no further action was taken, police said.
Youths Allegedly Tear Paper and Throw it on Street
On March 8 at 9:02 p.m. police received reports that youths on skateboards were tearing up paper and throwing it out on the street at the Yorktown Community and Cultural Center, 1974 Commerce St. They were gone upon arrival.
