Man Attempts to Cash Forged Check, Teens Steal Merchandise from Sears

Attempt to Cash a Forged Check

A 19-year-old Haverstraw man is accused of attempting to cash a forged check for more than $1,000.

Police determined that on March 21 Stephen Gonzalez allegedly provided a Chase bank teller with a forged check in the amount of $1,082.54, listing himself as a payee, police said. 

He was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony. The defendant was remanded to the Westchester County Department of Corrections on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond. Gonzalez was scheduled to appear in court on March 22.

Teens Steal $149 Worth of Merchandise from Sears

Two Mohegan Lake female residents are accused of acting together and allegedly stealing $149 worth of merchandise from a store display in Sears. 

Police charged the 16-year-old and 19-year-old teens, whose names they did not release, with petty larceny, misdemeanor. They were taken into custody on March 15 and were later released on $100 bail each. The two teens are scheduled to appear in court on April 17.

Failure to Appear in Court, Sent to Jail

A 23-year-old Katonah man was arrested for allegedly failing to appear for a scheduled court appearance in Yorktown in reference to a past petty larceny and disorderly conduct arrest. 

Two bench warrants were issued on March 15 for Alexander R. Hoy. The following day the defendant was located by police in the parking lot of Chestnut Mobil where he was arrested. Hoy was remanded to the Westchester County Jail for being unable to post the $15,000 bail. He was scheduled to appear in court on March 20. 

Stolen Cell Phone, Damaged Police Holding Cell

A 19-year-old Shenorock woman is accusing of stealing a cell phone from an unoccupied vehicle and damaging a  holding cell, police said. 

 was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony. 

Police responded to the Chestnut Shell gas station on March 16 on a report of larceny. An investigation revealed the defendant had allegedly stolen a cell phone from an unoccupied vehicle in the parking lot. Kramer was transported and processed at police headquarters. 

While in custody at the police department headquarters, the defendant allegedly kicked and damaged a holding cell cage causing damage in excess of $250, police said. 

Kramer was held at the Westchester County Jail on $5,000 bail and scheduled to appear in court on March 20.

Jeffrey Delossantos, 26 of the Bronx, was charged with first-degree attempted identity theft and second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, both felonies. 

On March 17, Yorktown police responded to a report of an identity theft at the TD Bank in Jefferson Valley. Investigation revealed Jeffrey Delossantos allegedly assumed the identity of a TD Bank account holder and attempted to withdraw $3,500 in cash from a bank teller. He was unsuccessful when the bank teller became suspicious.

The defendant was also found in possession of an allegedly forged New Jersey driver's license, police said. He was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail and scheduled to appear in court on March 20.

No Seat Belt, Suspended Driver's License

A 37-year-old Mahopac man faces several charges after police found him operating a vehicle with a suspended driver's license.

Joseph M. Labetti, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, as well as no seat belt and failure to notify DMV of change of address, both traffic infractions. 

On March 14, officer Rapisarda was conducting a seat belt detail on Rt. 6 and the Taconic Parkway when he stopped Labetti for not wearing a seat belt. Police said the defendant's driver's license was allegedly suspended for a pending hearing dating back to 1997. Labetti was released on $100 bail and scheduled to appear in court on April 17.

Suspended License, Criminal Possession of Marijuana

Christopher J. Roman, 22, from Peekskill, has been charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor, and failure to maintain lane, a traffic violation. 

The defendant was stopped on March 18 at 10:28 p.m. when police allegedly observed his vehicle swerving out of its travel lane. A computer check revealed Roman's driver's license had been suspended. 

The man was released on $100 bail and scheduled to appear in court on April 17.
