Thunderstorms, Damaging Winds Possible In Hudson Valley
After record-breaking temperatures Sunday, the region is likely going to see rain showers and possible thunderstorms Monday.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — With temperatures making us think it's spring — records were broken Sunday in Poughkeepsie — Monday in the Hudson Valley will likely bring rain and possible thunderstorms as the day progresses.
There is even a hazardous weather outlook thrown in as well.
Scattered rain showers are possible in the Catskills and mid-Hudson Valley through midday, according to Alex Marra and Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.

As the afternoon progresses, the chance of rain showers and thunderstorms increases from north to south, with the chance of a squall line with thunderstorms developing near sunset.
"A rainy and stormy PM commute is likely for the Hudson Valley," Hudson Valley Weather said, "be sure to plan accordingly."

The National Weather Service said some of the possible thunderstorms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain.
To that end, there is a hazardous weather outlook for Dutchess and Ulster counties in the mid-Hudson Valley.
It calls for wind gusts up to 40 mph Monday night, which could down some tree branches or small limbs.
Here is the forecast for the work week for northern Westchester from the weather service:
- Monday: A chance of showers, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 4pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. High near 67. East wind 8 to 15 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
- Monday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 10pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Low around 33. Southwest wind 14 to 18 mph becoming northwest in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
- Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 44. Wind chill values between 25 and 35. Northwest wind 11 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.
- Tuesday Night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 30. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
- Wednesday: A slight chance of snow before 11am, then a slight chance of rain and snow between 11am and noon, then a chance of rain after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 43. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
- Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32.
- Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 48.
- Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34.
- Friday: A 30 percent chance of showers after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 49.
