Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrest In Yorktown

Police pulled the man over because of a broken window that distorted visibility.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Yorktown man was arrested for drug possession after initially being stopped for driving a car with broken glass that distorted visibility. Yorktown police said Micheal Freal, 33, of Yorktown, was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, misdemeanors, and visibility distorted broken glass and unlicensed operation, violations.

Police said, around 7:14 p.m. Oct. 20, a traffic stop was conducted on Route 6 at the Taconic State Parkway for a vehicle with visibility distorted broken glass.

Freal was driving while his privilege to do so was revoked, officers said.

Further investigation and a search of his vehicle by a canine officer found Freal was in possession of cocaine and heroin.

He was taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.

Freal was issued an appearance ticket, three traffic summonses and release on $250 bail

He is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court Nov. 27.
