Warm Nights: Yorktown's Weekend Weather

SOMERS, NY — More rain is coming to the Hudson Valley over the weekend — thankfully not heavy rain, the kind forecast for much of the Mid-Atlantic. But what's going to make us uncomfortable will be the hot, muggy nights.

"Locations from the southern Plains to the Ohio Valley and the Eastern states will be quite warm and muggy, with well above normal temperatures on both Friday and Saturday," said the National Weather Service. "The big story with this warmth however will be the very warm overnight temperatures."

As for the precipitation expected:

"A rather sharp northern edge to the rain may develop somewhere from southern New York state and the northern parts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey during Saturday night and Sunday," said Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist. "People waiting for a long string of days with sunshine, warmth and low humidity will likely have to wait a while longer in the Northeast."

• This Afternoon-Partly sunny with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the upper 70s. Southeast winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent.
• Tonight-Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers. A chance of thunderstorms, mainly in the evening. Areas of fog. Humid with lows in the upper 60s. South winds around 5 mph, becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of rain 40 percent.
• Saturday-Cloudy. A chance of showers with a slight chance of thunderstorms in the morning, then showers likely in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 70s. North winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60 percent.
• Saturday Night-Mostly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers. Lows in the upper 50s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Sunday-Mostly sunny. Highs in the lower 70s. East winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Sunday Night-Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers after midnight. Lows around 50. Chance of rain 30 percent.
