Westchester Teen Accused Of Assault

Police said she voluntarily surrendered herself a few days after the incident.

YORKTOWN, NY — An Ossining teenager was arrested after being accused of punching a man in the neck. Yorktown police said the 17-year-old female, whose name is being withheld due to the possibility of youthful offender status, was charged with third-degree attempted assault, a misdemeanor.

Police said that, around 3:45 p.m. March 31, a fight was reported at the Jefferson Valley Mall. Officers responded and said that the teen punched a man in the neck, causing him to fall to the ground.

She then fled from the scene.

The 17-year-old was identified, and she voluntarily surrendered April 9 at Yorktown Police Headquarters where she was arrested.

She was arraigned by a judge who issued a temporary order of protection on behalf of the victim.

The 17-year-old was released on her own recognizance.

She is due to appear in Yorktown Justice Court April 25.
