What's The True Cost Of Living In Your Town?

A cost information website created a tool that allows you to see how much it costs for you to live in your town or elsewhere.

If you are like many of us, there's never enough money at the end of the month. And we certainly hope you aren't among those who are furloughed or working through the government shutdown without getting paid.

Have you ever wondered how your family's finances shape up compared to your neighbors? Did you ever wonder whether moving to some place different would be better financially for you?

HowMuch.net, a cost information website, came up with a tool that allows you to explore the costs and expenses of living where you live based on the the way you live. After all, your household may have two adults and two children, while just next door there's a single millennial living with a cat. Obviously, the living expenses would be completely different.

The data was sourced from several different place, HowMuch.net said.

Income data is mined from the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Department of Labor, wages and Minimum Wage database.

The National Bureau of Economic Research is where data about taxes was derived. HowMuch.net said its calculations tend to err on the higher side, so you might not actually be paying what they estimate.
