Winter Storm Watch: Yorktown's Weekend Weather

SOMERS, NY — It's an all-weather holiday weekend. We'll see sun on Saturday. Then a Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Rockland and Westchester counties Saturday night into Sunday morning. We'll see sun on Sunday and Monday morning, but clouds will come in bringing a chance of rain Monday afternoon.

• WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches are possible.
• WHERE...Most of the Lower Hudson Valley, New York City, Southern Connecticut, Northeast New Jersey, Long Island.
• WHEN...From Saturday evening through early Sunday morning.
• DETAILS...Plan on difficult travel conditions. Significant reductions in visibility are possible.

"As the storm ramps up and spreads eastward during Saturday afternoon and night, airline delays are likely to mount due to deicing operations," said AccuWeather senior meteorologist Alex Sosnowski. "During Saturday night, where snow falls, air and road surface temperatures will lower substantially even in many of the urban areas. Roads will transition from wet to slushy and snow-covered."

• Today-Patchy fog this morning. Rain. Highs in the lower 50s. Temperature falling into the mid 40s this afternoon. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Gusts up to 25 mph this afternoon. Chance of rain near 100 percent.
• Tonight-Partly cloudy in the evening, then becoming mostly clear. Much cooler with lows in the lower 20s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Gusts up to 25 mph in the evening.
• Saturday-Sunny in the morning, then becoming partly sunny. Highs in the upper 30s. Northeast winds around 5 mph, becoming southeast in the afternoon.
• Saturday Night-Snow. Heavy snow accumulation. Lows in the upper 20s. Southeast winds around 5 mph, becoming north after midnight. Chance of snow 90 percent.
• Sunday-Mostly sunny. A slight chance of snow in the morning. Highs in the lower 40s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 20 percent.
• Sunday Night-Mostly clear. Lows in the upper 20s.
• Washingtons Birthday-Partly sunny in the morning, then mostly cloudy with a chance of rain in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 40s. Chance of rain 50 percent.
• Monday Night-Cloudy with a 50 percent chance of rain. Lows in the lower 40s.
