Woman Charged With Speeding In Yorktown School Zone

Police said she also faces other charges.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Peekskill woman was arrested for, among other things, allegedly speeding in a school zone. Yorktown police said Emily Ann Zambrano, 29, of Peekskill, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, and speeding in a school zone and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, traffic infractions.

Around 11:10 a.m. Dec. 20, an officer on routine patrol stopped a car on Lexington Avenue.

Zambrano, the driver, was identified by a New York learners permit.

Police said she was driving in excess of the posted 15 mph school zone and was operating a motor vehicle while her privilege to do so was suspended two times for failing to pay a state-required fee assessed when convicted of certain traffic offenses in the state and for driving while ability impaired by alcohol.

Police also said Zambrano was driving without a license.

She was placed under arrest and taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.

Zambrano was released on her own recognizance and is due back in Yorktown Justice Court Jan. 22.
