Woman With Heroin Arrested Outside Closed Business: Cops

Police said they became suspicious seeing a vehicle parked in front of a business that wasn't open at 10 p.m. Saturday.

YORKTOWN, NY — At 10 p.m. Saturday, a Yorktown police officer on patrol on Route 6 saw someone parked at Orange County Pools, which was closed. He said when he went to investigate, the driver began acting suspiciously.

Police said they discovered that the driver, Ericka Handy, 27, was wanted by New York State Police on a bench warrant out of Chestertown NY. They say they also uncovered a quantity of heroin.

The Bronx resident was released on $100 cash bail to state police. She is due back in Yorktown town court Oct. 23.
