Yonkers Man Accused Of ID Theft
Police said the man attempted to taken thousands of dollars from the victim's bank account.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Yonkers man is facing felony charges after being accused of identity theft. Yorktown police said Christian Maldonado, 42, of Yonkers, was charged with first-degree identity theft, third-degree attempted grand larceny and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, all felonies.
Police said, around 4 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the Key Bank branch on Lee Boulevard for an attempted theft.
An investigation found that Maldonado assumed the identity of the victim by obtaining his personal information and possessing a forged driver's license and credit card while trying to withdraw $8,800 from his checking account, police said.

Maldonado was arrested at the bank and taken to police headquarters for processing.
He was arraigned and sent to the Westchester County Department of Corrections.

Maldonado is due back in Yorktown Justice Court Tuesday.
