Yorktown, Chamber Of Commerce Schedule Job Fair
The job fair will give local businesses and job seekers an opportunity to meet face-to-face.
YORKTOWN, NY — The town of Yorktown and the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce will hold a job fair for employers and for those seeking jobs Wednesday.
The five-hour event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Albert A. Capellini Community Culture Center, 1974 Commerce St. in Yorktown.
The job fair will give local businesses and job seekers an opportunity to meet face-to-face, organizers said. Another goal is to help alleviate a local worker shortage.

“In today’s environment, it is essential that businesses and job seekers have an opportunity to meet and converse with each other," said Councilman Ed Lachterman, who is also a Chamber board member.
"Too much of the hiring process is done online and this takes the ‘personal’ touch out of it and eliminates the opportunity to really connect,” he said. “We are looking to have that part of the mix put back into the process.”

The job fair will be set up in the gym of the Albert A Capellini Center, also known as the old sixth grade school. There will be areas set up for businesses to conduct onsite interviews as well.
“The Chamber is committed to ensuring that our business community succeeds,” said Chamber of Commerce President Sergio Esposito.
"Recognizing the huge impact labor shortages have had on our local economy, I am pleased to be able to connect both job seekers and businesses in such a productive manner," he said.
The job fair is open to any business that would like to attend, and applications can be found at the Chamber website. For those seeking employment, no registration is necessary.
Businesses expected to attend are:
- The Shrub Oak International School
- The Jefferson Valley Mall
- Welcome Wagon
- Ability Beyond
- Optimum Business
- Artis Senior Living of Somers
- Elements Massage of White Plains
- SPARC
- TJ Maxx
Also expected are various labor trade unions including Operating Engineers Local 130, IUOE Local 137 and Teamsters 456.
