Yorktown Declares State Of Emergency Friday
All unnecessary travel in the town is prohibited.

YORKTOWN, NY — The Town of Yorktown declared a state of emergency effective 5 p.m. Friday, March 2. It was declared because of the dangerous nor’easter that has made travel on all road within the town extremely unsafe. Wind gusts in excess of 50 mph, combined with heavy snowfall and numerous downed wires and power outages has severely impacted first responders ability to deal with critical calls for service.
The state of emergency will remain in effect until 7 a.m. Saturday, March 3.
Supervisor Ilan Gilbert has directed that all travel on town roadways is restricted to emergency vehicles, town highway vehicles, utility vehicles and essential emergency personnel.
