Yorktown Heights FD Puts Tanker Back In Service [PHOTOS]
The refurbishment of the 1994 tanker took about a year.

YORKTOWN, NY — After about a year, Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department has a tanker back in service. According to a Facebook post, Tanker 14 was officially placed back in service Thursday night at the Commerce Street Fire Station.
The 1994 International/Semo tanker was sent last spring to Bulldog Fire & Emergency Apparatus for a complete refurbishment.
The new features, which includes a 2,600 gallon poly water tank, storage for self-contained breathing apparatus and upgraded LED warning and scene lighting, will come in handy, the department said, because the fire district covers the Croton Watershed area, a large portion of which does not have a municipal water main system, meaning no fire hydrants.
