Yorktown Heights Man Arrested on DWI Charges

Police were called because of an erratically driven vehicle.

YORKTOWN, NY — A 24-year-old Yorktown Heights man faces drunk driving charges after being pulled over for driving erratically.

Police said a vehicle was being driven erratically Nov. 16 around 3:30 a.m. on Crompond Road.

The car was seen to be swerving on the roadway, crossing over the double yellow line and driving on the shoulder.

Police said the driver was Stephen J. Meyer Jr. of Cornwall Circle.

He was arrested at the scene and charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor.

Meyer was taken to Yorktown Police Headquarters where he was additionally charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent of more, a misdemeanor, after an alcohol breath test was administered.

He was also charged with fail to keep right, fail to maintain lane and uninspected motor vehicle, traffic infractions.

Meyer was released on his own recognizance to a responsible party and will next appear in Yorktown Justice Court Nov. 29.
