Yorktown Heights Woman Accused Of Having Unlicensed Dog

Police said the pit bull also wasn't vaccinated for rabies at the time of the incident.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Yorktown Heights woman was charged with having a dog that didn't have a license and wasn't vaccinated against rabies. Yorktown police charged Helen Mascoll, 52, of Yorktown Heights, with unlicensed dog and no rabies vaccination, violations of the state's Agriculture and Markets Law.

Police said that, around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, an officer responded to a residence for a reported dog bite.

A food delivery person said a pit bull jumped on him as he was trying to leave the residence, police said.

A community service worker was assigned to the case and an investigation found that the dog did not have a license nor was it vaccinated for rabies at the time of the incident.

Mascoll voluntarily appeared at police headquarters Friday, Jan. 25 and was processed on the charge.

She was released on her own recognizance to answer the charge in Yorktown Justice Court Feb. 12.
