Yorktown Man Was Practicing Rifle Shooting Inside Home: Police

One bullet went from the man's house to the neighbor's bathroom where it landed in the shower.

YORKTOWN, NY — More details were released about the Yorktown man accused of firing a rifle inside his house and, as a result, damaging his neighbor's home. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino said Connor Scanlan, 21, of Yorktown, was arraigned Sunday after being charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree criminal mischief, felonies, and prohibited use of a weapon, a misdemeanor.

Authorities said around 3:45 p.m. Sunday, Scanlan's neighbors on Friends Road reported loud bangs and repeated impacts to the side of their home.

Yorktown police investigated and found several bullet holes in the siding of both the Scanlan residence and the adjoining house.

One bullet entered the neighbor's bathroom and landed in the shower where a woman was bathing. Police said she was not injured.

Police said Scanlan told them he had been target shooting with a .22 caliber rifle in the hallway of his house.

The rifle, which was legally owned, was secured by police along with several other airsoft rifles and related paraphernalia.

Scanlan is schedule to appear in court Aug. 18.
