Yorktown, Somers District Voters To Decide 2018-19 Budgets

One of the districts will see decreases in tax rates.

Yorktown and Somers school district voters will be going to the polls Tuesday, May 15 to decide on budgets for the 2018-19 school year. Yorktown’s proposed budget is $97.9 million, which is 0.24 percent less than the current year.

The estimated tax rate change for Yorktown is a decrease of -0.22 percent. It’s also a decrease for New Castle — -1.18 percent. Cortlandt homeowners will also see a decrease, estimated to be -2.89 percent.

A second proposition will be on the ballot to authorize a withdrawal of $4 million from the capital reserve fund. School officials said the withdrawal will not impact school taxes in any way.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.


For the Somers school district, voters will be deciding whether to approve a budget of $91.2 million, which is 3.31 percent more than the current year’s spending package.

The estimated tax levy is 2.1 percent, which is under the mandated state tax levy cap for the seventh consecutive year.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
