Yorktown, Somers, Lakeland Budgets All OK'd
Voters went to the polls Tuesday to decide on school budgets and board members.
YORKTOWN, NY — Voters in the Yorktown school district approved the $98.2 million budget for the 2019-20 school year. According to unofficial results, the budget was approved.
The budget was 0.25 percent more than the current spending plan and the tax levy increase was 0.85 percent, which was within the state mandated tax cap.

Voters were also asked to approve a capital projects proposition in the amount of $4 million. It was approved/rejected.
Three candidates were vying for three seats on the board of education. The winners were Reshmi Bose, Cheryl Reynolds and Lisa Rolle.

Voters in the Somers school district approved the $93.7 million budget for the 2019-20 school year. According to unofficial results, the budget was approved by a rate of 75 percent.
The budget was 2.65 percent more than the current spending plan and the tax levy increase was 2.62 percent, which was within the state mandated tax cap.
Voters were also asked to approve a bond in the of $7,566,295 to finance safety and security measures at Somers schools. It was approved.
Three candidates were vying for three seats. The winners were Chadwick Olsen, Joseph A. Marra and Ifay Chang.
Voters in the Lakeland school district approved the $174.9 million budget for the 2019-20 school year. According to unofficial results, the budget was approved 698 to 189.
The budget was 4.98 percent more than the current spending plan and the tax levy increase was 1.49 percent, which was within the state mandated tax cap.
Voters were also asked to approve a bus purchase proposition for an amount not to exceed $1,568,970. It was approved.
There are three uncontested trustee positions on the ballot. The winners were Becky Burfeind, Robert E. Mayes and Adam E. Kaufman.
