Yorktown Volunteers Battle Taconic Car Fire
The fire department used the opportunity to remind the public about moving over when emergency vehicles are stopped.
YORKTOWN, NY — Members of the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department were out in force Sunday fighting a car fire on the Taconic State Parkway. The department was dispatched around 7:45 p.m. to the area of the Illington Road overpass.
You'll see from the photos from the Facebook post the department put up, it must have been quite dramatic.
But it also gave the volunteer firefighters an opportunity to give the public a little insight into how an operation is staged in order to protect not only the public but also the volunteer first responders.
