Ignite Jewelry Studios

Join Guest Instructor Joanne Davis-Woods for this hands on Metal Sawing for Jewelry workshop.
This will be a small class with good one on one attention. Topics covered will be saw blade choice and methods of refining, how to use a saw as a file, and materials for “thrumming”, along with best methods for transferring patterns onto metal.
There will be two piercing projects for the 3 hour class, one with curves and one with angles. Choosing where to begin the cut can be important so we will consider approach. Blanks with patterns attached will be provided as well as saw blades with materials kit*. We’ll cover how to choose the right size blade, how to grip and guide the saw for accuracy, and how to use the blade to fine tune the cuts. We’ll cover thrumming and the different materials that can be used. And in addiition we’ll look into the various ways of transferring a pattern to the sheet.
I believe everyone can get more comfortable with their saw. If you can ride a bike or use a sewing machine- you are almost there! -Joanne

SQUIREL NUT ZIPPERS When Hot first hit the airwaves in 1996, it didn’t just ignite excitement — it sparked a cultural bonfire. With its infectious blend of swing, jazz, Delta blues, and Southern storytelling, Hot rocketed Squirrel Nut Zippers from the underground scene of Chapel Hill, NC, to the national stage, going Platinum and defining a generation’s rediscovery of vintage Americana.
The band’s breakout sophomore album captured lightning in a bottle. Recorded at the famed Kingsway Studio in New Orleans (owned by Daneil Lanois), the record radiated with authenticity. Featuring a warm, analog sound, paired with wry, vivid storytelling, the album topped the Billboard 200 charts for an impressive 51 weeks and included such standout tracks as “Put a Lid On It,” “Blue Angel,” and its biggest hit to-date “Hell.”
“Hell,” which at the time, was considered an unlikely radio single, topped the Alternative Airplay charts at #13 and has become a pivotal piece of pop culture as it continues to heat up the radio and TV airwaves, appearing on alt rock and Americana stations and in such prominent television shows as Wednesday (2025) and Lucifer (2021).
Now, 30 years later, the Zippers are celebrating the ever-lasting magic of Hot with the “In The Afterlife” tour, where the band will play the record in its entirety. The 30th celebration of Hot is not just a look back — it’s a salute to resilience, innovation, and the enduring power of a band that never stopped evolving.
Formed in 1993 by Jimbo Mathus, Katharine Whalen, and a tight-knit group of musical misfits, Squirrel Nut Zippers defied genre from the start. Their sound — an intoxicating mix of prohibition-era jazz, big band bravado, and punk-rock irreverence — invited listeners into a world where vaudeville met voodoo and speakeasy swagger met Southern soul.

MATT HECKLER Matt Heckler is the fiddle player you wish still existed. Hailing from the Catskill Mtns, a physiographic subrange to the Appalachian chain, Heckler has been embraced by mountain music and culture from early on. Self-taught on fiddle, banjo and guitar, he can weave together a night of songs from all over the world. Swaying from an acapella Irish ballad to a rowdy Romani fiddle tune, Heckler has taken on a style of writing that sounds timeless, rustic and entirely his own.
Touring solo for a decade, Heckler made a name for himself opening for the likes of Benjamin Tod &amp; Lost Dog Street Band, Flogging Molly and Devil Makes Three, playing many of the biggest theatres and venues in the country. COREY STEVENSON BANDFrom the coal town of Man, West Virginia to the Carolinas, The Corey Stevenson Band delivers a powerful blend of Southern rock, country, and blues. Fronted by Corey Stevenson, the band is known for its raw energy, gritty authenticity, and standout guitar work. By 14, Corey was already making industry connections with Noel Golden and Edwin McCain, later studying at the Greenville Fine Arts Center under Steve Watson. He went on to earn a music leadership scholarship to Newberry College and share stages with artists like Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey, and the studio Brent Mason.
A Golden Ticket winner on American Idol and Top 16 finisher in the Country Music Bracket, Corey recently formed the band with Jake Keller and Lance Sweat. The group has shared stages with Bucky Covington, Big Smo, Zach Myers, and the Kentucky Headhunters, and is set to play over 200 shows in 2026. With multiple independent chart successes, their upcoming album Loaded 44 drops October 17th, continuing their mission to bring real, hard-hitting music back to the forefront.
MAD DOG BLUES BAND
A blues and soul collective with roots in the 1990s, The Mad Dog Blues Band is made up of gifted musicians and singers from Asheville, New York City, Washington D.C., and North Georgia. For this show, original members Mark McDaniel, Brian Harvey, Jacob Keller, Bob Walters, and Kate Brown Walters are joined by a gifted group of performers including Andy Hunter, John Caldemeyer, Wes Snoddy, Ashley Berger and others.
