• Tannery North smokestack to be demolished (transylvaniatimes.com) — Brevard’s city-owned Tannery North smokestack and its contaminated underground vault are set to be fully demolished following a city council vote Monday night. The aging structure has long raised safety and environmental concerns, and staff will now move ahead with detailed plans for removal and site cleanup that could shape future use of the prominent property. 
• Ask 13: What will the rebuilt Bobby N. Setzer State Fish Hatchery include? (wlos.com) — Renovations at the Bobby N. Setzer State Fish Hatchery near Brevard will add new public restrooms and educational signage so visitors can better view and learn about the fish. However, the former wildlife education building will not be rebuilt, and construction is expected to continue through 2027.
• BC welcomes new assistant athletic trainer (transylvaniatimes.com subscription) — Brevard College has added a new assistant athletic trainer, Miranda Gardina, to support its student-athletes on and off the field. Gardina brings recent graduate-level training, diverse clinical experience across multiple sports, and national certifications that will strengthen Brevard’s Sports Medicine Team and on-campus athlete care.
