📰 News we're reading
• Brevard secures funds for construction of final 8 miles of Ecusta Trail (wlos.com) — Brevard has secured enough funding to build its final eight miles of the Ecusta Trail, with construction expected to start in late summer or early fall 2027 and last up to two years. The city’s 12-foot-wide paved section will cost about $26.2 million and eventually link Brevard with Etowah, Horse Shoe, Laurel Park and Hendersonville.

• WorldAtlas names 10 ‘off the grid' towns in North Carolina to visit (cardinalpine.com) — Brevard is spotlighted as one of North Carolina’s best “off-the-grid” getaway towns, thanks to nearby Pisgah National Forest, DuPont State Recreational Forest and the area’s many waterfalls. The piece highlights hikes like Looking Glass Rock, waterfall-hopping in DuPont, and even spotting white squirrels around Brevard College, positioning the town as a base for unplugged outdoor adventures.
