5 Fun Things To Do This Weekend In Charlotte: Oct. 6 - Oct. 9

Art in South End, Disney on Ice and Bank of America 500 are all among the fun things to do in Charlotte this weekend.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Autumn is in full swing this weekend in Charlotte, as area pumpkin patches and farms ramp up seasonal activities. If you’re looking for something fun this weekend, Patch has you covered.

Sunshine and clear skies are on tap for Friday, but that will change Saturday when clouds move into the region. Sunday heavy rains and gusty winds from Nate will move into the Queen City region, the National Weather Service said in a hazardous weather outlook.   • October Gallery Crawl -- Explore nine art galleries and art destinations in South End, and enjoy the music of guitarist Larkin Dodgen along the way. Historic South End, Friday, Oct. 6, 5 p.m. - 10 p.m.
  • National Barrel Aged Beer Day -- Head down to Salud Beer Shop in NoDa and sample Blackberry Farms’ King of the Falling Fruit, Alban Farmhouse Brett Saison and Brett 18. Salud Beer Shop, 3306-B N. Davidson Street, Charlotte. Friday, Oct. 6, 7 p.m.
  • Kids Free Weekend at Carolina Renaissance Festival -- It’s opening weekend of one of the largest Ren Fairs in the country. Each weekend through Nov. 19 you can find costumed players re-creating days gone by at the Carolina Renaissance Festival, held north of Charlotte between Concord and Huntersville. 16445 Poplar Tent Road in Huntersville. Weekends Sept. 30 - Nov. 19, 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
  • Disney on Ice Presents Frozen -- Take a trip to Arendelle and watch all your favorite characters from the hit movie ice skate their way through a heart-warming adventure. Spectrum Center, 333 East Trade Street, Charlotte. Saturday, Oct. 7, 11 a.m.
  • Bank of America 500 -- NASCAR’s Bank of America 500, an October tradition, marks the second round of playoffs for the 2017 season. Charlotte Motor Speedway, Sunday, Oct. 8, 2 p.m.
