Arrest Made In Death of North Carolina Artist

Corrina Meheil was found bound, stabbed in her Washington, D.C. home.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- An arrest has been made in the stabbing death of Corrina Meheil, a social justice artist from North Carolina living temporarily in Washington, D.C.

El Hadji Alpha Madiou Toure, 28, was arrested March 27 in connection with the murder of Meheil, 34, according to WJLA.

Meheil’s body was discovered March 21 in her rowhouse bedroom in Northeast Washington, “bound by various pieces of clothing and bedding,” The Washington Post reported.

Metropolitan Police have also found her missing Toyota Prius.

Meheil, originally from Burnsville, N.C., had lived in Washington for several months working on “The Fundred Reserve” exhibit at the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design with artist Mel Chin. The exhibit, which highlights lead poisoning dangers, “remind us that every child’s future has value,” according to the the Post.
