Case Update: Arrest Made In Fatal West Charlotte Shooting

Charlotte police have charged Robert Ward Anderson, 46, with murder after the fatal shooting of Joshua Leland Cox on April 8.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte police have arrested a man they say is responsible for an early morning shooting that left a 41-year-old man dead in a west Charlotte neighborhood last week.

On April 8, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers responded to the intersection of Willilyn Lane and Huntwood Drive around 7:30 a.m., where they found a man with an apparent gun shot wound.

The victim, who was pronounced dead on the scene, was later identified as Joshua Leland Cox, 41.

Tuesday, CMPD said detectives identified Robert Ward Alverson, 46, as the suspect in the case and that was arrested without incident. Alverson was charged with murder, CMPD said.
