Chance of Snow Creeps Back Into Charlotte Metro's Forecast

CHARLOTTE, NC -- The Queen City metro region is enjoying sunny skies and crisp days this week, but that will likely all change by the weekend when the possibility of snow and sleet creep back into the forecast.

News of the possibility of weekend wintry weather stands in stark contrast to current conditions: Wednesday is expected to be sunny with a high near 50, with Thursday likely seeing temperatures near 60.

That will all change by Sunday, when winter weather becomes possible, the National Weather Service said Jan. 31 in a hazardous outlook bulletin.

“Another frontal system will move across the area and may bring a wintry mix of precipitation,” NWS said, adding, “Confidence is still low on the amounts and types of precipitation.”

Sunny, with a high near 49. Calm wind becoming south southwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning.

Mostly clear, with a low around 32. South southwest wind 7 to 9 mph.
Thursday (Feb. 1)
Mostly sunny, with a high near 58. Southwest wind 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.
Thursday Night
Showers likely, mainly between 1am and 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. Southwest wind 8 to 11 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Friday (Feb. 2)
Sunny, with a high near 47. North northwest wind 8 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.
