CHARLOTTE, NC — July 4th is quickly approaching, which means it's time to fire up that barbecue and find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you this Independence Day. We gathered up all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening in and around the Charlotte metro so you can start planning now.
If you’re planning to grill out to celebrate Independence Day, you might want to start putting together a Plan B. The July 4th holiday will likely be a soggy and muggy one this year, with showers and thunderstorms in the forecast through the weekend and into early next week, according to the National Weather Service.

- Summer Pops - Celebrate America! With Fireworks, Charlotte — Symphony Park at SouthPark Mall, 4400 Sharon Road, Charlotte. 8:15 p.m. Join your Charlotte Symphony for a rousing salute to America with a night of patriotic favorites including Sousa marches, America the Beautiful, and the Armed Forces Medley - all topped off by a spectacular fireworks finale!
- 4th of July Celebration, Charlotte — U.S. National Whitewater Center, 5000 Whitewater Center Parkway, Charlotte. This is the ninth year of the two-day festival features outdoor adventure, yoga, live music, and spectacular firework displays.
- July 3rd Celebration, Mooresville — Lowe's YMCA, 170 Joe V. Knox Avenue, Mooresville. In partnership with the Town of Mooresville, the Lowe's YMCA July 3rd Summer Celebration is a community staple, bringing together families from across the Lake Norman community to enjoy fellowship, local entertainment and food, kid-friendly activities, and of course, spectacular fireworks. Bring a blanket and chairs, and arrive early.
Thursday, July 4
- Skyshow & Street Party 2019, Charlotte — BB&T Ballpark, 324 South Mint Street, Charlotte. 2 p.m - 10 p.m. Mint Street shuts down in front of the ballpark for this all-day street party featuring music and family entertainment. Catch a Charlotte Knights baseball game. First pitch for the game is at 6:05pm as Charlotte Knights take on Durham Bulls. Tickets to the game are on sale here. Join us as we honor our Veterans and Active Military with a patriotic flag ceremony immediately following the game. Afterward, you will be amazed by the largest fireworks display in the Southeast with the SkyShow Fireworks brought to you by Fox 46 Charlotte. - Celebrate America Fireworks Show, Charlotte — Carowinds, 300 Carowinds Boulevard, Charlotte. 9:30 p.m. Carowinds celebrates the 4th of July in this annual fireworks celebration show. July 4th and July 5th.
- July 4th Celebration, Huntersville — Birkdale Village, 16725 Birkdale Commons Parkway, Huntersville. 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. oin us for a fun filled day to celebrate July 4th! As always, bring your bike and after decorating it, join us for the parade. The Huntersville Fire Department will be on hand to cool us down with their ladder truck.
- 4th of July Parade, Davidson — McEver Field, South Street, Davidson. 5:15 p.m. There are no fireworks in Davidson, but citizens are invited to celebrate our nation's independence with a homespun, downtown parade and a concert on the green on Thursday, July 4.
- Search for Fireworks Cruise — Queens Landing, Mooresville. 7:30 p.m. Say organizers: "Our captain will be cruising you around the lake to see all of the fireworks showering the horizon. Cheer from the top of the boat to let Lake Norman home owners know you are enjoying their show! Please enjoy the chef's appetizers and also our cash bar."
